Birds can make excellent companions. They are often quite social and regularly form strong bonds with their owners. Birds have specific needs and can become sick or exhibit unwanted behaviors if these needs are not met.

Providing the proper care for your bird is the foundation for a lifelong friendship.

Reptiles such as lizards, snakes, and turtles can offer an alternative to those looking for a less traditional pet. They are fascinating to watch as they explore their surroundings. Some enjoy being handled and interacting with their owners.

Each reptile has specific environmental and nutritional requirements. Without these essential components your unique companion could become sick.

Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, chinchillas, and ferrets also make great companions. These furry friends can make a great alternative to customary pets as they are smaller and often exercise themselves. However, they still require special diets and regular veterinary care to maintain their health.

Most exotics tend to hide their illnesses from their owners. Often times an owner will not notice something is wrong until the pets’ condition is advanced. Addressing any changes in behavior and correcting any nutritional or environmental errors early and promptly can results in better prognosis for sick pets. Even apparently healthy exotic pets need routine care! We recommend once to twice a year wellness exams for all exotics. At these visits, we will thoroughly examine your pet, perform routine screening tests, review import home care (such as diet, lighting, and temperature settings), and provide educational handouts to keep your pet happy and healthy.

We have an exotics ward where your pet can stay while you’re away. Our kennel staff will give your pet all of the TLC during their time with us. Our experienced staff can administer any daily medications your pet requires. We ask that you bring your pets’ regular diet, treats, toys, and a small enclosure for their visit with us.
